March. 2012. It's going past quite quick, no?
As I write this I am in a state of Jet Lag from the trip I took to NEW YORK with another Ben. In a nut shell, Budden was amazing. met YN in NY, ha! met Joell Ortiz is SoHo. Got tickets to see Jizzle. Got tickets to see WTT. Alas, my heart isn't in this at the moment. Come Back Later.....

RUH!!!!
well, I've discovered how rick ross is so successful, he's figured out a formula on how to make good music without been the most talented artist (no offence ricky, but your not hov or nas are you). i am a fan of ricky but there is a lot of similarities. but it works, i'm listening to the holy ghost in my buggatti
1. start each feature verse with a hitting first line
- 'got so many shades they thought i had a lazy eye'
2. go 'RUHHHH' so folks know you are on the track
3. deliver simple verses that are seemingly hooks (see B.M.F)
4. say one catchy line then repeat it immediately after by shouting
- 'phone ringing gotta be the mexicans, PHONE RINGING GOTTA BE THE MEXICANS'
5. when on a track with someone else, on one of their memorable lines say it again, straight after by shouting it too
- Drake - 'bitch you wasn't with me shooting in the gym' ricky 'BITCH YOU WASN'T WITH ME SHOOTING IN THE GYM'
6. when the beat breathes shout a catchy line as the beat then kicks in
- 'SON OF A BITCH THEN I MADE A GREAT ESCAPE'
7. use the same lines but change 1 key word
- 'i'm not a star, somebody lied i got a chopper in my car' started as, 'i'm not a star, somebody lied i got a pistol in my car so don't make it come alive'
8. get a guest verse on a massive hit that someone else carries and start your verse by going 'RUUHHHHH' then following up with an intricate drug based line.
- 'i'm buring purple flowers. its burning my chest'
9. at any point name drop diddy
10. mention your money at any opportunity.
If you follow these 10 steps, you won't be ricky ross or have his career. he is a one off. only works for him, french is trying it. not happening though, is it?
Inspite of this, Rick Ross has had the best 8-bar verse ever in rap. gossip gossip....

January, my thoughts so far
right, January is almost over and a lot of nothing has happened but I still feel strongly about what hasn't happened and a good friend told me to blog, so here we go. my thoughts.
firstly, ricky rozay. we all know rich forever was your album, yes IT WAS GOOD. very good even, but you gave it away for free AND say it wasnt your album before anyone even asked apart from ice?!?! and lets be honest, Ice is right about this sort of stuff. also, TM103 was better than this Rick, we all know it. #PhoneRingingGottaBeTheMexicansPhoneRingingGottaBeTheMexicans
On the back of this, 'Stay Schemin'. Firstly, French wasn't meant to sing the hook, this is obvious. Drake was meant to do that but clearly didn't want to overshadow his verse and French's verse achieved close to nothing unless we want the word 'dawg' to rhyme with itself. #BitchYouWasn'tWithMeShootingInTheGym
Whilst we are on the subject of French Montana, saying you didn't sign with Kanye because he only commutes via e-mail and you don't use e-mail?!? please, be serious. if you were you, and you were you then i'd be registering with gmail to sign with kanye but fair play you held out and signed with bad boy 2.0 along with MGK and Red Cafe, and Red Cafe will be the best on that label. Also Kanye, you lie we see you with that blackberry, but don't give french your pin. Also French jump at that shit next time. thats like Barca wanting to sign marlon king.
one more thing about MMG etc, Meek Mill will have the best album of all that lot this year. its impossible not to. quote me on it.
Also, May 15th welcome to: Our House by SlaughtHouse comes out. people who don't like Slaughterhouse and claim to like rap don't actually like rap.
People have been talking about Stay Schemin verses been the verses of the year etc but Joe Budden had 90 over No Church In The Wild and re-wrote that, listen here potentially the best story teller in rap? yes, i'd say so. biased maybe, but find me a better one. also word play - 'put my nikes on his face now he foaming at the mouth'. if you don't understand the wordplay there investigate so you do as the meaning here is fantastic. #MouseBack
Grime, I FUCKING LOVE GRIME MUSIC. it has been a big month for grime, the return of eskimo dance happened. Ghetts & P were on the same stage. Wiley. OGz. BBK. Roll Deep. Logan basically, Dizzee, Kane & lethal were only ones missing. its happening again in may. I SHALL BE THERE. futon living. The a week later, history in grime happened, JME released 96 Fuckries on iTunes and all other good media outlets. he got to number 41 in the charts. 9 sales away from top 40. on an Independence label. this has never been done. with a grime track too. can you imagine his next single? that WILL be top 40, get a staple house vid behind it again and its all systems go.
Think that's it. Big year ahead, in many respects. personally i'm off to a few gigs this year, Wale, Drake, Example and Joe Budden (In New York!!!!). that's all tbh.
So finally, Kobe is putting up 40+ points a night. an achievement in itself right? BUT he's currently going through a $150million divorce, playing with a sprained wrist and a broken thumb. That's impressive. #BitchYouWasn'tWithMeShootingInTheGym
Goodbye. for now. haven't decided yet.
P.S. I bet CP3 is pissed off now haha

2011, a review. albums.
you may expect me to say wtt straight off. no. let me explain. before i start, the carter IV isn't on the list because it was shit.
10. Meth - when doesn't the KOTG deliver? really?
9. Flockaveli - like him or not, waka made a good album. lyrical? no but it was listenable. shit, the man went number 1 on billboard with a song about getting a blow job from a stripper. if you can make that a hit then your album is going to be listenable and it was. currently everything has been a single from this album i think, ha!
8. Self Made - I'll be honest, if this had been a meek mill EP i'd have been happy. but wale and ricky did their own work too. a rushed project yes, but no bullshit, all hits.
7. Take Care - a good chilled out album, not what people expected but at the same time everything and more.
6. Mood Muzik 4.5 - Mouse made a project and gave it away free. it was better than most other projects this year and years before. in my opinion Joe may well be the best unnoticed rapper ever. his word play and story telling is immense, just see OLS3.
5. 100% Publishing - Wiley made an album in 2 weeks and made grime, good grime. no features, just good music.
4. Cole World - Cole World. still at it, villematic. no matter how you look at it. this project was immaculate. No flaws. the man is the future of rap. he went gold with no commercial single, no promos, no tv appearances, just a fan base. that many fans can't be wrong.
3. Blacks & P - the best album the UK produced this year, period. P Money & Blacks, both came with energy, passion and talent. nothing stopped them. they used great samples from dub and grime. weren't scared about subjects and 'This Way' Freestyle by Blacks is still the best vocal dub track i have ever heard!
2. WTT - Jay Z. Kanye West. the project is exciting. it really is. it is amazing too. theres no flaws. we all quoted it. we all asked why is there a 3 minute pause. we all wanted to skate to one song and one song only. when 'Otis' was released, the internet went HAM (No Pun). then when the album came out and 'Niggas In Paris' was heard worldwide, a hit was made. the album is pretty much timeless.
1. TM103 - eightseventhirtytwo what it do? well, Mr Jenkins made an album, no commercial mind, a raw trap-rap album. 3 years in the making. worth it. great features, great beats and immaculate verses. Jeezy set out to make an album that is like 101 and can be out there to show who he is. this is that and so much more. the stories he tells, even ne-yo gets taken to the trap for this project. absolutely amazing, picking a favourite isnt easy as each track has its own spark, nothing weak about this.
