when its just audio, its fucking terrible. with visual aids it some how got worse. a lot worse. what the fuck is a swagger jagger. the lyrics make no bastard sense. it looks like a monkey on e's produced the video and stroyboarded it with a... shit ton of bright coloured felt tips and highlighters. absolute shite. i bet if mick jagger was dead he'd turn in his grave. the sad thing is this atrocious 'music' will do well because all the fuck-wits who support cher for her 'talent' will buy it whilst real talent gets lost in a sea of decrepid shite and electro sounds that must have been accidental because something this shit was not done on purpose. seriously, this has pissed me off this video. i don't know why. i know i like to defend certain genre's of music and sometimes cast an eye towards genres i don't agree with but respect to it, those genres have talent in their respective field. fuck. i mean there is no talent apparent here. i had heard it been slated and have a bit of bad press here and there btu i thought music always has critics, but looking back, i'm not sure anyone has praised it. this is mental. before anyone goes 'lets see you better', i fucking will. give me the budget and the team shes had to make this AND her album and i will make something better. she has worked with busta rhymes. busta fucking rhymes. the man is a legend, he was in shaft for christs sake. give me studio time and busta rhymes and i'll come up with a generic pop tune. it won't have a stupid title either. fuck this someone give me a small percentage of her budget and i'll do it. i don't want a deal, this is just barmy. maybe i'm bored or maybe i'm just in shock about what 'pop' music has become. i'm 23 and feel old when i hear some music today.this is the example of it. i challenge anyone over the age of 9 to genuinely like this song. kids, go listen to proper music, something thats thought of from a musical sense not a fucking profit margin. sony and simon cowell are arsing music from this. shit, go on youtube and type in 'swagger like us' thats how that shits done. clifford did this 5 years ago. catch up or do real music. love and peace. xx
so by now, i've lamented a bit. had the ipod on shuffle. and a few things came to mind. this song will be going international. this got me thinking, a lot of american music doesnt come over to the uk because the labels don't see it as 'internationally viable' this been said i noticed a few examples which i couldnt help but think were wrong. waka flocka flames 'O Lets Do It (Remix)' went 4x platinum in america. no release here. fair enough it may not do the numbers here. but still, it will sell. we all read the blogs about diddy's verse . we all knew his verse. we all know he stacks his money up. we all do now. but where was the release? another one, this still shocks me. 'You Be Killin Em' by Loso incase you didn't know so. that shit was number 1 on billboard, sold over 4 million digitally. has nearly 5 mill views on youtube yet no release in the uk. it dropped decmeber its now july. the last one, really eludes me. Birdman released a song called 'Fire Flame'. the video is fucking bonkers. we all knew about it. he had over a billion$ no typo. a billion $ of stuff in his video. EXCLUDING THE CASH. basically the video was mental. thats how it got the hype. the song wasn't all that. my point is the video was spoken about world wide. i heard 2 men in suits on a rush hour train mentioning his helicopter for fuck sake. this song would have done alright in the uk. yet birdman with his oil rig and YMCMB money didnt push it for international sales. why no release? this is just an example of 3. before i forget atlantic were forced to release Black & Yellow (no link here we all know it) after 8 months, due to illegal downloading internationally. this shows pay the extra to internationally release. and you won't get pirated. fuck me Jeezy's G-Mix was immense. that was free!?!?! wheres the sense.
anyway my point is, the 2 biggest acts the uk has released properly across the pond is Adele and Tinie Tempah. well done to them both, both great artists, both with great projects. why have we then gone and subjected 'Swagger jAGGER' to them? Skepta did a grime tume with diddy. that wasn't released in america? why? label funding. bullshit. speculate to accumulate. JME released BLAM! internationally. paid for the distribution from his own pocket. its regarded as Grimes best album of 2010. now tell me why an artist with such a credible project is having to pay to promote his own album internationally. to international avail too. credit to JME no end, he's done it himself. but no one is in america going 'BUY BLAM' not to the extent they will be with 'Swagger Jagger'. if this is what we are sending to america as 'talent' we need to slow the fuck down. do a proper album. because clearly the real music works in america as Adele etc etc has shown. if Cher LLoyf has the taletn then let her show it. down wrap in generic pop shite. if she doesnt lets spend the money on artists with talent. right now, the uk i-tunes chart is prodemantly uk artists and shite with pitbull. i'd love to see pitbull out of the charts. uk artists are strong. lets show america. fuck me but lets do it properly. seriosuly. if BET put P Money on a screen at prime time. the uk urban scene would be transformed forever. in a good way. we have the talent here. we are just using it wrong. or not at all. signing off. peace and love. x
